Description

The Illegal Unreported and Unregulated fishing IUU in Kuwait is one of the main causes for the fishery decline in Kuwait as the cases between 2000 to 2017 were 9755 with an average of 573.8 per year [1]. This study was conducted in Kuwait in December 2019 inside the Kuwaiti Bay aiming to detect the existence of illegal fishers as fishing within the Kuwaiti Bay is restricted. We have used DJI Marvic Pro drone with thermal camera, trying to detect the fishing activities of the ships, fishing gears inside water and the type of ships. Total of 42 images were taken (thermal, night vision and ordinary) from 10 wooden dhows in the area. All of the wooden dhows were fishing with trolling nets inside the Kuwaiti Bay and the images were taken while they were trolling.
