Description

This repository includes the CAD files and software needed to build a mobile system for estimating step length and width. It is based on a four-wheeled platform equipped with: -Depth camera (RGB-D): aimed at the user’s feet to capture gait kinematics in real time. -Two piezoresistive insole sensors: synchronized with the camera to detect heel-strike events. By combining both data sources, the system automatically calculates the variables of interest during walks of hundreds of meters. The design addresses the limitations of current solutions—such as the inability to record movement over long distances and reliance on expensive, complex equipment—and is characterized by: -Intuitive architecture: simplifies assembly and setup. -Portability and low cost: uses accessible components and is easy to replicate. -Scalability: adaptable to different environments and analysis protocols. This proposal offers a practical, affordable alternative for gait analysis over extended distances.
