The data contains two csv files leading to figure generation and analysis in the paper "New Digital Education as the Market Solution to the Student Debt Crisis" Google Trends data captures selected Google Trends Topic index values for the United States, showing clear rebounding in social interest for online learning over time, increasing interest in Western Governors University (WGU), and concave-down interest in massive online open courses (MOOCs) from 2004-2020. Google Trends data is unavailable prior to 2004. Ordinary Google search data captures pre-2004 hype in around WGU.
