Description

Total Knee Replacement (TKR) is permanent and reliable solution for arthritis and debilitating pain in the knee joint. It is a surgery in which the infected knee is replaced with biocompatible components of Total Knee Replacement. Total Knee Replacement has three components- femoral component, bearing component, and tibial component. These components are fixed to Femur and Tibia bones with a strong cement (Kanyal, 2021). The point cloud data of a posterior-stabilized, fixed bearing total knee prosthesis, PFC Sigma (De Puy, Johnson & Johnson, Leeds, UK) is presented here. The data consists of point cloud data of femoral component, bearing component, and tibial component. The point cloud data of each component can be imported into a reverse engineering software like Geomagic Studio (Raindrop Geomagic, Research Triangle Park, NC) where it can be converted into a CAD model. After obtaining CAD models of all three components- femoral component, bearing component, and tibial component, they can be assembled in a CAD software like Solidworks or Catia like Kanyal(2021) did. The final CAD assembly can be used to perform a finite element analysis concerning Total Knee Replacement which can be very useful to visualize kinematics and mechanics of the Total Knee Replacement.
