This dataset comprises 179 news stories related to organ sales, blood sales, organ donor smuggling, organ donor trade, and organ trafficking, as reported in the Hürriyet newspaper in Turkey between 1954 and 2024

Steps to reproduce

The data was obtained from the Turkish National Library Periodicals Catalogue by scanning and compiling news published in the Hürriyet newspaper between 1954 and 2005. The data for the years 2005 to 2024 was compiled from the digital archive of the same newspaper. The news text from the photos was transcribed into a Word document, which was then imported into MAXQDA 2024 for thematic content analysis.
