The Influence of Paradoxical Leader Behaviors on Employees’ Self-Evaluation: A Conditional Process Analysis Model

This study collects questionnaire data from 737 Chinese in-service employees to explore the relationship between paradoxical leader behaviors and core self-evaluation, and also takes the mediating effect of perceived insider status and the regulatory effect of team psychological safety into account. The results show that paradoxical leader behaviors do not only significantly positively affect employees’ core self-evaluation level, but also have a significant positive effect on core self-evaluation level by improving employees’ perceived insider status; in addition, paradoxical leader behaviors can also greatly enhance the influencing relation between them by improving team psychological safety.
