Description

Camden has the largest food desert community. Camden is referred to as a food desert, a location where it is extremely difficult to find fresh food. Supermarkets are scarce, and they are too far away to be reached without a car. Bodegas are the main source of food for the locals, however junk food corner businesses are thriving. Camden has a significant issue with food accessibility and is known to be the poorest city in the Nation. The data set represents different types of food stores in Camden, NJ. While also looking at transportation locations, residents depend on buses and trains to reach destinations. The data set also represents how food oppression is institutional and physically debilitates a socially subordinated group. We can evaluate and see from this set of data that Camden desperately needs local fresh produce.
