Plant species in Sierra de Quilmes (2018)
We assessed the patterns of plant species diversity along an altitudinal gradient in Sierra de Quilmes (-66.1130 -26.5042, -65.9421 -26.3293, CRS: WGS84, Argentina Monte Desert - Tucumán Province).
Steps to reproduce
The study area was classified into five altitudinal bands of 100 m separated between them by 100 m of altitude: 1650-1750, 1850-1950, 2050-2150, 2250-2350, and 2450-2550 m a.s.l. Sampling was performed in January and February of 2018, during the rainy season, when perennial and annual plants are present. Eight plots were sampled in each altitudinal band, totalizing 40 plots. Each sampling plot consisted of three 70 m long linear transects separated from each other by 15 m and oriented parallel to the gradient. The Point Intercept Method was used along the linear transects to obtain a measure of species abundance. Transects were marked at 1 m intervals, totalizing 213 sampled points per sampling plot.
