Description

Figure. A genomic Nkt+ transgene rescues sleep in a null mutant whereas a UAS transgene expressing in only glia or neurons does not. A) Rescue of sleep in an Nkt null mutant (L2-11) by one copy of a fosmid transgene expressing NKT+-sGFP under control of the endogenous promoter. B-C) Lack of rescue of the null L2-11 mutant with glial (B) or neuronal (C) expression of a UAS-Nkt+ transgene. Sleep amount in null mutants expressing Nkt+ was not significantly different from that of mutant controls. The D. virilis U-Dv_Nkt+ transgene – which can rescue sleep in knockdown flies – was employed in these experiments. ***, p<0.001.
