Description

In my research, I develop Saussure's notion of abstract and concrete entities which are related to each other as abstract generalization and material foundation. This relation constitutes the linguistic structure, i.e. the language. One can speak about an abstract entity in the linguistic structure if there is a series of material elements (words or linguistic complexes) which are used in oral or written speach to express the notion which is contained in a particular abstact entity. The aim of my research is to establish the linguistic structure of the semantic domain 'ice hockey' in German. The texts about ice hockey events, posted on websites of German mass media, serves me as source of evidence. While gathering the information, I fond some words and linguistic complexes which has a common feature: they are used when it is necessary to say about the national team of a host country. The present table summarizes these finds.
