Description

This is the supplementary material for "A zinc-iron isotope perspective on the nature and recent history of sub-arc lithosphere: Messages from Mariana Trough basalts". The Supplementary Material contains: descriptions of Monte Carlo simulations of the Zn and Fe isotope compositions during partial melting and fractional crystallization; Fig. S1, a plot of MgO against latitude to show the differentiation of the northern Mariana Trough basalts (NMTB) spatially; Fig. S2, plots of SiO2, TiO2, CaO and Ni against MgO to show the crystallization of olivine, clinopyroxene, plagioclase and ilmenite; Fig. S3, plots of Fe60 with latitude and δ56Fe with MgO for the NMTB; Fig. S4, plots of δ66Zn against “fluid tracers” (87Sr/86Sr and Ba/La) of the island arc volcanic rocks; Table S1, major and trace element and Sr-Nd-Pb-Hf-Fe-Zn isotope data of the NMTB samples.
