Description

This repository contains the radiosondes launched from DOWs 6, 7, and 8 during the 2018 GRAINEX campaign. These data are direct observations using GRAW type DFM-09 radiosondes attached to 100 gram balloons. First and last soundings of the day are carried by 200 gram balloons. Launches began at 0500 LST and continued bihourly until 1900 LST for a total of 8 soundings per day. For a description of the GRAINEX project, please refer to Rappin et al. (2021). A description of the radiosonde data is available in the User Guide present in the root directory. Additionally, each intensive observation period has a sub-directory containing additional information from each site. If these data are used in a published work, please add the following citations to your manuscript where appropriate: "Center for Severe Weather Research, 2019: CSWR GRAINEX Sounding Dataset, Version 1.0. CSWR." Rappin, E. et al. The Great Plains Irrigation Experiment (GRAINEX). Bull. Am. Meteorol. Soc. 1–66 (2021). doi:10.1175/bams-d-20-0041.1
