Evangelos Papadias,

The dataset consists of four geospatial layers. The coastal shape, the road network and the land cover/use derived by manual digitization from the topographical map of Cyprus published in 1969 by the U.S. Army Map Service ( It was prepared in 25 sheets at a scale of 1:50,000 using the ED50 / UTM zone 36N reference system (EPSG: 23036). The mean rectification accuracy of the 25 sheets using a first-order affine transformation was 5.5 m. Additionally the dataset includes the layer of the populated places described in the Census of 1960 accompanied by its population attributes. The dataset covers the entire area of the island of Cyprus.
