Description

We compiled two data sets from the literature on rates of protein degradation in E. coli and S. cerevisiae across growth conditions. We set out to look at trends that do not depend on the specific metabolic mechanisms behind the attainment of a certain growth level. To this end, we identified and quantified how degradation rates change as the overall growth rate of the cell changes. For each species, we annotated and computed the growth rate and the average degradation rate in different growth conditions. We find that degradation levels increase as cells grow slower. To annotate and compute all quantities from the literature, we used the methods described in the README file of this dataset. This dataset was compiled as part of our research study on protein degradation across growth conditions.
