Description

Data was used to analyze acoustic indices' ability to monitor avian populations in grasslands compared to in-person avian point-count surveys. Data includes avian point-count survey results within the Central Platte River Valley from the years 2019-2021 along with acoustic index readings paired with surveys. Acoustic recordings were collected using Wildlife Acoustics SM2+ and SM4 recorders. Six commonly studied acoustic indices were calculated for each survey. Weather data were collected using a Kestrel 3500 Weather Meter. Site-specific measurements were collected from Google Earth Pro. Metadata is included in database. Further information may be found in accompanying manuscript Ostrom, B.L., Harner, M.J, and Caven, A.J. Monitoring avian populations with acoustic indices in the Central Platte River Valley.
