Description

The TC size database presented here has a comma-delimited text format with six-hourly information on the date, location, maximum wind speed (km/h), minimum central pressure (hPa), estimated radius of maximum wind speed (km), estimated R34, R50, R64, and R100 critical wind radii, and outer radius (km) calculated by the Willoughby et al. (2006) radial wind profile of all known TCs and subtropical cyclones. Data description In lines like this: AL112017, IRMA, 66, AL112017: TC code IRMA: TC name 66: Number of entries of this TC in the database In lines like this: 20170902, 1800, 18.7N, 44.1W, 225.7, 933, 29.99, 237.0, 145.5, 93.00, 55.00, 786.00 20170902: date (YYMMDD) 1800 : hour (hhmm) 18.7N : TC center latitude (N: North Hemisphere, S: South Hemisphere) 44.1W : TC center longitude (W: Western Hemisphere, E: Eastern Hemisphere) 225.7 : Maximum wind speed on surface average in one minute (km/h) 943 : Central pressure at sea level (hPa) 29.99 : Estimated radius of maximum wind speed (km) 237.0 : R34- radius of 34kt (km) 145.5 : R50- radius of 50kt (km) 93.00 : R64- radius of 64kt (km) 55.00 : R100- radius of 100kt (km) 786.00 : TC outer radius (km) Missing data is denoted by -9999 Further data description can be found in Pérez-Alarcón, A.; Sorí, R.; Fernández-Alvarez, J.C.; Nieto, R.; Gimeno, L.
