Description: This dataset contains the data extraction form for a systematic study titled "[Failure Causes in Software Projects and the Potential Solutions of Agile Methodologies: A Systematic Mapping Study (2020/2025)]". The dataset consists of 40 primary studies (P01-P39) identified and analyzed according to the study's inclusion and exclusion criteria. The spreadsheet includes the following data extraction fields (columns) for each identified paper: Article ID & Paper Name: Unique identification and title of the study. Year: Publication year (ranging from 2020 to 2024). Research Type: Classification of research (e.g., Empirical Research (ER), Validation Research (VR)). Reasons for Failure (D4): Categorized factors such as Project Management (PM), Organizational Culture (OC), etc. Agile Method (D5): The specific agile methodologies discussed (e.g., Scrum, Lean). Impact & Success/Failure Rate: Metrics related to the outcomes of the studied projects. Country: Geographic distribution of the research. Risk Management (D9): Whether the study explicitly addresses risk management. Key Findings: A summary of the core results and contributions of each paper. This data provides a comprehensive overview of the current literature regarding agile software development challenges, success factors, and failure reasons in recent years.

Steps to Reproduce Search Strategy: Define the research questions and identify keywords related to agile software development and Failure Causes in Software Projects and the Potential Solutions of Agile Methodologies . Database Selection: Execute the search query across major digital libraries including IEEE Xplore, ACM Digital Library, ScienceDirect, and Scopus. Study Selection: Apply inclusion and exclusion criteria to the retrieved results. Screen titles, abstracts, and full texts to select the final 39 primary studies. Data Extraction: Use the provided Excel template to systematically extract data from each selected paper. Quality Assessment: Evaluate the quality of each primary study based on predefined quality assessment (QA) questions. Synthesis: Organize the extracted data into the final spreadsheet format to analyze trends, methodologies, and findings.
