Neuronal data of vibrissal somatosensory cortex in a texture-discrimination task

To investigate how sensory evidence ultimately leads to decision, we trained rats to turn to the left or right reward spout according to the texture presented. The stimulus set included 3 textures. On each trial, the rat perched on the platform edge to touch the texture with its whiskers. After identifying the texture, it turned to the left or right drinking spout where it collected the water reward. Neuronal spikes from the Primary Vibrissal Somatosensory Cortex (vS1) and the Second Vibrissal Somatosensory Cortex (vS2) were recorded during the texture-discrimination task. Data set of 19 sessions from 5 rats are uploaded. In each session, three files are included: Data of neuronal spikes is saved in "Spikes.mat". Each cell gives spikes of one neuron. Spikes{itt, icl} is the spike stamps of the neuron from tetrode itt, cluster icl. Basic information of the neurons is saved in "SingleNeurons". Column 6 is itt and Column 7 is icl, corresponding to the row and column in Spikes.mat; Column 8 is brain region that the neuron belongs to (vS1 = 1, vS2 = 2). Data of whisker touch time is saved in "TouchTime.mat". Each row gives data of one touch. Column 2 is the trial number; Column 7 is the onset time of this touch; Column 8 is the offset time of this touch; Column 3 is the texture presented in this trial (smooth = 0, 1 or 2 = 1 or 2 mm, 3 = 4 mm); Column 4 is the reward side associated with the texture (right = 0, left = 1); Column 5 is whether the rat made a correct decision during this trial (correct = 1, incorrect = 0).
