Campus-Safe Dataset from Nigerian Tertiary Institutions for Development of a Cloud-based Campus Crime Reporting App

Description

The incidence of campus crime is fast becoming alarming across the tertiary institutions in Nigeria and it has an overwhelming effects on the entire educational system. Oftentimes, many of these campus crime cases are not reported. Thus, the need to assess the stakeholders perception towards campus crime, available methods of reporting campus crime and development of crime reporting App and its adoption. This dataset was generated from a cross-sectional survey conducted in two phases. The first phase was carried out among Student Affairs and Data Entry Officers from accredited tertiary institutions in Nigeria during the 2022 Batch B Pre-Mobilisation Workshop of National Youth Service Corps held at Wuze Zone 7, Abuja. While the other phase was conducted among Corps Members mobilized in 2022 National Youth Service Corps serving in Ebonyi State, Nigeria. A paper based validated questionnaire of 17 items was used to collect data from 521 respondents using simple random sampling techniques. The collected data reflects the demographic information of the respondents, substantive issues on incident of campus crime, methods of campus crime reporting and its assessment, needs for development of cloud-based campus crime reporting App and its adoption by stakeholders of tertiary institutions in Nigeria.
