Steps to reproduce

Analyze fluorescence figures to highlight focal adhesions and stress fibers. After that, process the images in ImageJ to study size of FAs, according to the article. For the SEM images, you may measure lengths and diameters directly from the figures. For the AFM data, select area of cells with Gwyddion and save the data points within cell region. Then, go through every single force curve from the data file by using NanoScope analysis. Manually remove all individual curves that have erroneous structure and thus the data value is invalid. Lastly, move all the correct data values to Graphpad Prism and analyze the data.
