Assessment of diagnosis and treatment practices of diarrhoea in children under five in Maputo-Mozambique

These data will be deposited in SPSS version 23 format, they are coded, they were collected in Portuguese and all variables were translated into English to facilitate the perception. The data show the place of collection, the date of collection, the initial letters of the person who collected it, date of admission to the health units, place of origin of the patient, gender, age in months of the patient, signs and symptoms, laboratory tests performed, diagnosis and treatment prescribed in health units. For data interpretation, tables were built according to the study objectives.

Steps to reproduce
The data were collected using tablets where a check list placed in Excel sheet, three data field assistants were involved in the collection. The data were analyzed using Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) version 23, the analysis was done with the support of a statistician. Descriptive statistics were performed to organize, interpret, and communicate the numeric information. Retrospective data from 2015 to 2019 were collected from the health facilities record books. The study used Retrospective data available in the record books of health facilities of Maputo was collected, data were quantitative. In 2021, during 8 months (March to December) on working days from 8 AM to 2 PM the field assistants collected data from record books. The categories biography, main signals (signs) and symptoms, Laboratory examination, Treatment and Diagnosis. All records without information about age, gender, diagnosis and treatment was excluded. The study also excluded cases of diarrhoea determined by non-infectious origins, known or documented human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), and/or other immunocompromised status and known serious medical diseases. Those data can benefit the heath decision to approach or souses in order to diagnosis and treat well the diarrhoea disease.
