Description

We present high-resolution reconstructions of wetland distribution in the North Africa during the mid-Holocene (MH) using five calibrated wetland models and four precipitation levels. The five models are TCI1, TCI2, RFM1, RFM2 and LSM. The four precipitation levels are MH1, MH2, MH3 and MH4. The 20 simulations are in '.mat' format created by matlab. In the updated Version 3 of this dataset, the simulations for the pre-industrial period (PI) with TCI and FRM models were added. For MH and PI conditions, we recommend to used the RFM2 simulations for realistic scenarios. For the present-day, the CW-TCI map of potential wetlands from Tootchi et al., 2019, ESSD should be used to be consistent with our result. For user's convenience, we have saved it in PI_simulations.mat as "Tootchi_PP" for present potential wetlands in North Africa. Metadata: Spatial resolution: 15 arc-second Spatial domain: 0-35°N and 20°W-40°E Contains four values (0, 1, 2 and 15): 0 for non-wetlands, 1 and 2 for wetlands, 15 for ocean.
