Description

Abstract 2D-FROTH is a program for the simulation of the structure of the two-dimensional soap froth. The evolution in time of this system (due to diffusion between cells) is of considerable current interest, as are its rheological properties. Using the standard idealised model of the froth, the program creates a finite sample with periodic boundary conditions and equilibrates it by an iterative procedure. The effect of diffusion can be studied by repeatedly changing the cell areas and re-equilibratin... Title of program: 2D-FROTH Catalogue Id: ABRX_v1_0 Nature of problem A program is provided, by means of which a model structure of the "two dimensional soap froth" type may be equilibrated, allowed to evolve and coarsen, due to intercellular diffusion, or subjected to strain in order to calculate mechanical properties. It has been used to obtain insight into evolution and elastic/plastic properties and should be adaptable to further applications in the developing science of foams and froths. Versions of this program held in the CPC repository in Mendeley Data ABRX_v1_0; 2D-FROTH; 10.1016/0010-4655(90)90080-K This program has been imported from the CPC Program Library held at Queen's University Belfast (1969-2018)
