Data were collected through questionnaires filled out by tutors, medical records and research data. The diagnosis was made by pediatric cardiologists who are experts in the topic, based on a structural approach and imaging studies by echocardiography or tomography and angiography. The sample was taken before any clinical or surgical procedure. The data presented were used to quantify the expression of different non-coding microRNAs. First, Subject blood samples were collected at the time of study enrollment and placed into sterile tubes containing EDTA. Purification of total RNA was released from plasma samples using the miRNeasy Serum/Plasma Kit (Qiagen) following the manufacturer's instruction. As an internal control, a synthetic miR (cel-miR-39 from C. elegans). Reverse transcription reaction was performed in samples of total RNA of plasma using the specific primers. Expression levels were measured in duplicate and normalized with the endogenous gene cel-miR-39_1. Relative quantification was carried out using the following 2-ΔΔCT formula
