Morphodynamics dataset for the 2020 extreme Changjiang flood
Description
This dataset presents observed morphological evolution and sediment dynamics spanning May 2020 to May 2021, encompassing pre- and post-flood conditions associated with the extreme 2020 Changjiang River flood. In addition, water level records for June–August 2020 are included. A series of four Delft3D numerical simulations are provided to disentangle controlling factors: S1 represents the baseline scenario (pre-incision, mean runoff); S2 isolates the effect of channel incision (incised, mean runoff); S3 quantifies flood-induced changes (pre-incision, 2020 flood); and S4 integrates the contemporary estuarine state (incised, 2020 flood). The analyses focus on tidal-fluvial interactions, including flood/ebb/total diversion ratios, mean tidal range, and residual sediment transport direction (landward positive).
