Description

These data characterize the spatial and temporal evolution of a vortex ring, used here as a well controlled gust to perturb freely flying insects. In order to get this data, we first seeded the flow using fog particles for flow visualization and then used high-speed cameras to record the flow images for a long time. The images were then processed to get the position of the fog in each frames. Similarly, we used high-speed cameras to obtain kinematics of freely flying insects in controlled environment.
