Description

Behavioural test to assess social learning in piglets using a foraging paradigm. The sow enters the foraging arena with one of her piglets. The arena is baited with food known to the sow but unknown to the piglet. Behaviours involving social contact, exploration and food-related behaviour were scored as well as vocalizations.
