Description

ABSTRACT Back ground: The present study focus on musculoskeletal pain prevailing in college students owing to sedentary lifestyle. Prolong periods of sitting leads to hip flexors tightness and abdominal weakness leading to back ache due to erector spinae muscles tightness. The present study is being conducted to evaluate the prevalence of lower cross syndrome in students. Purpose: To study prevalence of lower cross syndrome among students with sedentary lifestyle. Method: Students of within age group between 18-25 years with sedentary lifestyle were recruited. The participants will be selected by purposive sampling method. Lower cross syndrome will be assessed by postural assessment in lateral view. International physical activity questionnaire was filled. Muscular strength will be determined by oxford scale for Manual muscle testing. Modified-Modified Schober’s test will be used to determine lumbar range of motion and trunk extensor tightness. Iliopsoas muscle length testing was done with universal goniometer. Visual analog scale is used to assess the pain. Lower Extremity Functional Scale was filled. Result: Prevalence of lower cross syndrome was 1.4% in college going individuals with sedentary lifestyle as outcome of the study. Conclusion: The study concluded that there is minimal prevalence of lower cross syndrome in college students with sedentary lifestyle.
