Description

The data for the dependent variable (i.e., carbon footprint per capita) are derived from a dataset provided by Citizens’ Climate Lobby (CCL) (Ummel 2014; 2016), which is freely available to the public (upon approval of an application). The data for the independent, or predictor, variables are derived from the mapping software SimplyMap (Geographic Research, Inc. 2011), also a publicly available database. SimplyMap collects information from a variety of sources, including the US Census, the American Community Survey, the Bureau of Labor Statistics as well as Easy Analytic Software, Inc. (2016) in order to provide demographic, economic, geographic, and political information at various scales of analysis.
