Description

The dataset presented here includes the synthesis and characterization data of alkali-activated materials (AAMs)/geopolymers with varying composition (i.e., the atomic Si:Al:Na/K:Ca ratios over a wide range of 1:1:1:0 to 21:1:1:21). The material characterization data includes XRF, XRD, SEM, FTIR, XPS, BET-BJH, 29Si NMR, PSD, Bulk and true density and Zeta potential. Moreover, the data comprises adsorption results for cations with different aqueous radii, namely ammonium (NH4+, 3.31 Å/0.33 nm), methylene blue (MB, 5.04 Å/0.50 nm), and rhodamine 6G (R6G, 5.80 Å/0.58 nm). The experiments were carried out at equimolar initial concentrations of 3.13 × 10-4 mol/L for MB and R6G, and 5.54 × 10-3 mol/L for NH₄⁺. Adsorption was performed at 25 °C and pH 7.0 for 24 h, with an adsorbent dosage of 1 g/L. The materials' adsorption performance was also explored in the gas-phase with H2. For H2 adsorption, the materials were tested at three different temperatures (-20, +20, and +40°C) and H2 partial pressure up to 100 bar.
