Description

Dataset for research on the bioremoval of polyethylene MPs by Phanerochaete chrysosporium: influence of MP size and morphology. Microplastic removal experiments using the fungus Phanerochaete chrysosporium were conducted over 12 days. Samples were collected to monitor pH, carbohydrate concentration, fungal growth, and MP concentration in both the liquid culture medium and fungal pellets. The dataset contains the raw experimental data, data analysis, and results from scanning electron microscopy coupled with energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (SEM-EDS) and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) analyses. The data provide information on the influence of polyethylene MP size and morphology on fungal growth, MP removal, and the interaction between the MPs and fungus.
