Title: Transverse shear testing of a binder-stabilised preform subjected to monotonic and cyclic Loading Authors: Peter H. Broberg, Fahimeh Shakibapour, Johnny Jakobsen, Esben Lindgaard, and Brian L. V. Bak Description: This dataset contains the raw data of transverse shear testing on a binder-stabilised preform subjected to monotonic and cyclic loading conditions. The data was collected at the Department of Materials and Production at Aalborg University between April 2022 and September 2022 as a part of the MADEBLADES project. The preforms considered in this work was composed of 21 layers of dry glass non-crimp fabrics consolidated with a polyester binder. The data is being made public both to act as supplementary data for future publications and for other researchers to use this data in their own work. ***Purpose of the test campaign The purpose of these experiments was to investigate the transverse shear behaviour of binder-stabilised preforms. A new test fixture was used to test the preforms under monotonic and cyclic loading. ***Test equipment The transverse shear tests were performed using a Instron ElectroPuls E10000 with a custom made transverse shear test fixture. The preform specimens were prepared with the dimensions 200 mm x 50 mm x 18.5 mm (Length x Width x Thickness). The applied force and displacement were measured by the tensile test machine and a clipgauge. ***Description of the data in this data set Data from in total 25 tests are included in this data set. The data is divided into 5 different test cases with 5 repeats for each case: ** 3 Monotonic test cases with a loading until 6 mm * Deformation rate of 2 mm/min * Deformation rate of 20 mm/min * Deformation rate of 60 mm/min ** 2 Cyclic test cases with a deformation rate of 20 mm/min * Deformation amplitude of 4.0 mm * Deformation amplitude of 0.5 mm The dataset includes the following information for each test: * Total time * Cycle time * Position of the load cell * Force measured by the load cell * Displacement measured by the load cell * Discplacement measured by the Clip Gauge. The dataset can be used to evaluate the transverse shear behavior of binder-stabilised preforms under monotonic and cyclic loading conditions. It can also be used to validate numerical models and simulation tools for predicting the behaviour of composite materials under complex loading conditions.
