Description

Although much is known about extracellular miRNA, the identity, regulation, and functional roles of secreted coding and long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs, >200nt) are largely unknown. We have previously shown that mutant KRAS colorectal cancer (CRC) cells release EVs containing distinct proteomes, miRNAs, and circular RNAs. Here, we comprehensively identify the broad and diverse classes of CRC extracellular long RNAs secreted in EVs and demonstrate differential export of specific RNAs. We show that distinct noncoding RNAs including antisense transcripts and transcripts derived from pseudogenes are enriched in EVs compared to cellular profiles. Raw data from sequencing and analysis can be found at the supplied link (including the FASTQ data files).
