Shenyang twelve pocket parks soundscape perception questionnaire data

Description

This dataset contains 220 valid on-site questionnaire responses from adult visitors to twelve traffic-adjacent pocket parks in Shenyang, China, collected during the morning (07:00-09:00) or evening (17:00-19:00) peak-traffic period between late April and early June 2025 from visitors who had spent at least five minutes in the park. Each respondent rated the perceived dominance of four sound-source categories (traffic, human sounds, natural sounds, other noise), the eight ISO 12913-2 perceived-affective-quality descriptors (pleasant, vibrant, eventful, chaotic, annoying, monotonous, uneventful, calm), perceived noisiness, satisfaction with the sound environment, satisfaction with air quality and the coordination between the sound environment and the surrounding scene, all on five-point scales, and reported gender, occupation, education, residential identity, companions, current visiting frequency, length of stay, main activity and desired visiting frequency. The workbook holds the respondent-level table (one row per respondent, 28 columns including the respondent and park identifiers), a park-level table giving each park's size category, area, spatial form, number of street frontages, survey session and respondent counts, a variable dictionary with the value codes, and a sheet summary; the respondent table is also supplied as a UTF-8 CSV. Sample sizes per park range from 6 to 35. The sound-satisfaction item was not administered in parks 1, 2 and 5, so it is available for 158 respondents in nine parks.
