Description

The dataset provides comprehensive information on various aspects of biomass residues, including physical, biochemical, and chemical composition, current usage, and annual generation. It covers crop residues, primary forestry residues, pruning residues, manure, green/garden waste, sewage sludge, household biowaste, and agroindustrial residues. Each document in the dataset offers detailed insights into specific aspects of the residues. Here is an overview of the contents: SI.1. Characterization: This section focuses on characterizing residual biomasses in France. The dataset includes assumptions regarding the composition of different residues, and these assumptions are explained in the accompanying documents. The characterization of forestry residues (CamPFR) is derived from a weighted average of various forest types in France. Similarly, the characterization of crop residues (referred to as CamCR for the Cambioscop project) is calculated based on weighted averages of the distribution of selected crop residues in the country. The document provides sources for all composition values. SI.2. Current_uses: This section provides information on the current usage of residual biomasses in France. The dataset's estimates are based on literature surveys, reports from UNFCCC NIR, and expert-guided assumptions. The document lists the sources for these estimates. SI.3. Spatial_quantification: In this section, the dataset presents the generated amounts and spatial quantification of various residues. Functional equations are used to estimate data for crop residues, while spatial modeling frameworks are employed for primary forestry residues. The data for other streams are obtained from national reports. Version 2 of the dataset introduces refined estimates for manure and current usage, which impacts the overall potential. Consequently, new maps have been generated using the revised values and have been included in the updated files. These documents also serve as supplementary data for a manuscript.
