Description

Data on the spatial and vertical distribution of the total bacterial abundance, fraction of high DNA-content and particle-associated bacteria, and POC concentration. Additionally, dataset contains environmental parameters (temperature, salinity, turbidity, fluorescence and dissolved oxygen concentration). The data were collected in the Vilkitsky Strait and along two transects the outer shelf of the Laptev Sea and the adjacent continental slope region of Arctic Ocean in August−September 2018. Obtained data may be useful for future studies on Arctic Ocean biological productivity, and, possibly, for models investigating ecosystem functioning and carbon cycle in a changing climate.

Steps to reproduce

Sampling was carried out in the Laptev Sea and the Vilkitsky Strait in August−September 2018. Water temperature, salinity, turbidity, fluorescence and dissolved oxygen concentration were derived from CTD measurements with a CTD probe SBE 911 Plus. Particle-associated bacteria were dislodged by sonication using a sonic probe VCX 130 (Sonics and Materials). Bacterial abundance was enumerated using AccuriTM C6 flow cytometer (BD Bioscience). POC was measured using a Shimadzu TOC-VCPH analyser.
