The research team contacted the Human resource department through email, describing the nature of the study and asking for assistance in recruiting research participants. Before data collection, we ensured that the participants were informed about the voluntary and confidential nature of their involvement (i.e., the leader being rated will not be able to see the specific levels of the study variables attributed to them by the respondent). Again, the research team provided the research’s purpose to participants but did not disclose the specific hypotheses. This was done to promote participant anonymity, potentially increasing participation rates and reducing the likelihood of participants providing socially desirable responses. To prevent the rater selection effect, we utilized a random selection method by conducting a lottery draw to select employees who would rate their leaders.
