Rajathi ChidambaramDescription
The NSL-KDD dataset is an enhanced version of the widely used KDD’99 dataset, developed to benchmark intrusion detection systems. It addresses several inherent flaws in the original KDD’99, such as redundant records and data imbalance, which could bias machine learning models. The UNSW-NB15 dataset was developed by the Australian Centre for Cyber Security (ACCS) in 2015 to reflect contemporary real-world network traffic and attack scenarios. It was generated using the IXIA PerfectStorm simulation tool to emulate realistic network traffic over a cyber range, covering both normal behavior and malicious activities.
