Description

This dataset contains histology images of longitudinal sections of the leech Hirudo medicinalis to focus on the central nervous system between ganglia 8-9 and ganglia 12-13, with images of control leeches and leeches with inflicted damage on the central nervous system, specifically on the connective tissue between ganglia. The dataset contains images focusing on the connective cords of two different leeches in two separate sections. The first section is between ganglia eight and nine, and the second section is between ganglia 12 and 13. The images correspond to longitudinal tissue areas to find each section's connective cords going from top to bottom. One leech was set as control, having any modification; the other leech was dissected to inflict damage on the connective cords of the central nervous system. The dataset contains 69 images of the control leech and 147 for the leech with injury. Raw data is 3072X4096 pixels. Clean images are 2800X2800 pixels. The dataset consists of 432 images divided into 216 raw JPG images and 216 clean PNG images. Each image is uniquely identified with its file name using the following code: section-damage-slide-zoom-number.(png or jpg). The identifiers are: Section: 8 for sections eight to nine, and 12 for sections 12 to 13, Damage: c for control or no damage, and 0d for damage inflicted on the same day of dissection. Slide: Number of the position of the slide in the sequence of sections, Zoom: Augmentation of the stereoscope, Number: Number of each section on the slide.
