Description

Previous studies have suggested that the basolateral amygdala (BLA) also plays a key role in the extinction of fear memory, and the interneurons in BLA are especially critical in this process. Here, by tagging activity-dependent neurons, we investigated the role of BLA GABAergic interneurons in fear response and identified two functional distinct populations of BLA GABAergic interneurons in fear memory extinction.
