Description

Assam is a north eastern state of India which witnesses heavy rainfall during the monsoon season. The heavy rainfall results in minor to major floods during this season which typically lasts from May to October. The data set accompanied by this description contains the measured water level readings of staff gauge placed at 6 selected locations of Brahmaputra Valley, on each day of May to October in the year 2018 and 2019. For each location, the dataset gives the following information : (A) Danger Level (of water above which flood occurs) in meter. (B) Highest Flood Level (H.F.L) in meter. (C) Water Level observed in meter on each day. (D) The date on which Highest Flood Level was observed. The data has been collected from the official website of Water Resources, Government of Assam (See https://waterresources.assam.gov.in/information-services/daily-flood-bulletin) and is compiled in .xlsx format. The dataset may help the researchers to model the excess level of water observed over the Danger Level and to understand the behaviour of floods associated with the rainfall in the Brahmaputra Valley during the discussed period.
