Description

This dataset provides the code, frozen configurations, simulation-derived data, and supporting materials associated with the study "Transition-Aware Dynamic Capability Assessment for Aircraft under Pitch-Effectiveness Degradation." The study investigates the ambiguity between normal closed-loop task-transition lag and degradation-induced response deficits in fixed-wing aircraft. It presents a complementary assessment framework that preserves static task-criterion compliance while introducing a dynamic capability margin based on causal command-history features and nominal response prediction. The dataset includes development and prospective evaluation records, frozen assessment parameters, nominal-response model configurations, matched-comparison data, and scripts supporting the reported analyses and numerical figures and tables. The materials also support verification of the registered prospective criteria and the causal-truncation diagnostic. The packaged analysis and evaluation results have been independently reproduced from the included frozen data, with all 35 manuscript consistency checks passing. However, the package does not provide all external aircraft-model and controller assets required to regenerate the complete JSBSim simulation campaign. The study's limitations, including deterministic simulation conditions, restricted operating domains, and the unsuccessful registered numerical-integrity criterion, are retained in the documentation. The dataset is intended to support transparent assessment, verification, and reuse of the reported analytical workflow.

Steps to reproduce

1. Download and extract the dataset archive. Read 00_README/README.md for the software environment, package structure, external dependencies, and reproduction instructions. 2. Use the supplied frozen configurations, nominal-response parameters, and evaluation data to reconstruct the static and dynamic capability assessments. Follow the reproduction commands documented in the README. 3. Execute the packaged verification workflow to check the reported development and prospective results. The frozen-data reproduction package has previously passed all 35 manuscript consistency checks. 4. Use the included result-generation scripts and source data to reproduce the reported numerical analyses, Figures 3–6, and Tables 1–3. Figures 1–2 are conceptual diagrams, while Table A.1 documents the frozen static task criteria. 5. Reproduce the prospective evaluation and registered criteria A–E. The original registered integrity criterion produced 14 mismatches among 648 checks, leaving the overall prospective outcome NOT CONFIRMED. The additional numerical diagnostics must be interpreted separately and do not change that registered outcome. 6. Verify file integrity using the supplied SHA-256 manifest. Important limitation: This package supports reproduction from stored simulation-derived data. Complete end-to-end JSBSim simulation regeneration is not provided because some external aircraft-model and controller assets are excluded.
