Description

This dataset comprises annotated voice recordings of English words/phrases pronounced by different subjects for the names of several commonly used surgical instruments. The collected samples of voice recordings in the proposed dataset are acquired from volunteering physicians who are non-native English speakers. The voice recordings are collected over the duration of 2 months using WhatsApp messaging app. The dataset is divided into 4 voice recordings sub-datasets corresponding to the pronounced names of 4 surgical instruments, with 10 voice recording samples acquired from each speaker for each surgical instrument. The pronounced names of the surgical instruments are “Scalpel”, “Straight Dissection Clamp”, “Straight Mayo Scissor”, and “Curved Mayo Scissor”. For constructing the proposed dataset, 12 speakers have participated with a total of 400 filtered data samples and approximately 11 minutes of total speech recordings are acquired. The proposed voice recordings dataset is appropriate for training and validating various automatic speech recognition systems related to healthcare and surgical applications.
