Description
Bariatric surgery is currently considered an effective treatment for patients with morbid obesity, leading to improvement in rates of associated comorbidities. Nonetheless, there is a lack of evidences about effect of weight bearing on bone structure and what a rapid loss of body mass as a result of bariatric surgery may cause. Thus, the aim of this study was to analyze the effects of body weight loss on bone mineral density (BMD) of hip and lumbar spine in patients after six months of bariatric surgery
