Research Design This study explores the leisure time practices of refugee high school students who have relocated to Eskisehir, a city in Türkiye's Central Anatolia region, from Syria, Iraq, Iran, and Afghanistan. The research employs an explanatory sequential design using a mixed-methods approach. In this design, quantitative data are first collected and analyzed, followed by the collection of qualitative data to gain a deeper understanding of the initial findings. According to Toyon (2021), the explanatory sequential design involves the stages of determining the epistemological and ontological stance, establishing the research approach, collecting data, analyzing quantitative data, gathering qualitative data, analyzing it, and then integrating and reporting the results. Sampling The study population includes 976 refugee students from Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, and Syria, all attending high schools in Eskisehir. A simple random sampling method was employed to select the sample for the quantitative part of the study, while purposive sampling was used for the qualitative part. As a result, the sample consisted of 278 refugee high school students (149 girls and 129 boys) for the quantitative phase, and 27 students (8 girls and 19 boys) for the qualitative phase. Data Collection and Analysis A questionnaire with 87 items was used to collect data for the quantitative section, while a semi-structured interview guide with 43 questions was employed for the qualitative section. The quantitative data were analyzed using SPSS 26.0 software, with calculations including frequency, percentage, and mean. For the qualitative data, descriptive content analysis was conducted, and themes and sub-themes were developed. In the final stage, the qualitative findings were interpreted and integrated to complement, support, and expand upon the quantitative results, thereby linking both data sets. This study was approved by the Social and Human Sciences Scientific Research and Publication Ethics Committee of Anadolu University, with ethics approval granted under protocol number 69682 on May 18, 2021.
