Data on herbal consumption in Indonesia during the COVID-19 pandemic
Description
This dataset captures the patterns and trends of herbal consumption in Indonesia during the COVID-19 pandemic. It includes detailed information on the types of herbs consumed, the frequency and duration of their usage, the demographics of the consumers (such as age, gender, and region), and the motivations behind their consumption (e.g., immunity boosting, respiratory health). Additionally, the dataset records the sources of information that influenced consumers' decisions, such as social media, traditional knowledge, or medical advice. This comprehensive dataset aims to provide insights into how the pandemic influenced health behaviors and the role of traditional medicine in public health responses. There are three types of herbal classification in Indonesia: 1. Herbs for jamu (herbal medicine) 2. FF for Ftitofarmaka (Phytopharmaceuticals) 3. OHT for Obat Herbal Terstandar (Standardized Herbal Medicine)

Steps to reproduce
1. Data Collection: - Survey Design: Create a survey questionnaire including questions about types of herbs consumed, frequency, duration, demographics, and motivations. - Sampling: Identify and select a representative sample of the Indonesian population using stratified sampling to ensure diversity across different regions and demographics. - Survey Administration: Conduct the survey using online platforms, telephone interviews, or face-to-face interviews while adhering to COVID-19 safety protocols. 2. Data Entry and Cleaning: - Data Entry: Input the survey responses into a digital format, such as a spreadsheet or a database. - Data Cleaning: Remove any duplicates, correct any inconsistencies, and handle missing data appropriately. Ensure all data entries are accurate and standardized. 3. Data Analysis: - Descriptive Statistics: Calculate frequencies, percentages, means, and other descriptive statistics to summarize the data. - Cross-tabulation: Perform cross-tabulations to explore relationships between different variables, such as age groups and types of herbs consumed. - Trend Analysis: Analyze trends over time if the data collection spans multiple periods during the pandemic. 4. Data Visualization: - Charts and Graphs: Create visual representations of the data using bar charts, pie charts, line graphs, etc., to illustrate key findings. - Maps: Use geographic information system (GIS) tools to map regional variations in herbal consumption. 5. Reporting: - Summary Report: Compile the findings into a comprehensive report, including an introduction, methodology, results, discussion, and conclusions. - Dissemination: Share the report with stakeholders, such as health authorities, policymakers, and the public, through various channels including publications, presentations, and social media.5
