Description

Here are the four real-world instances used in the article https://doi.org/10.1016/j.omega.2021.102392 These instances help other researcher to develop alternative approaches to solve an optimization problem called "Mask Design Problem" (MDP). This problem appears when selecting the field of view and the stellar objects to study in the sky by using a instrument in spectroscopy with a configurable slit unit. The researcher will find here a ".dat" file for each instance that determines the position of all the starts in a catalogue, around one degree square in the sky. For each instance there is also the solution found by the approach in https://doi.org/10.1016/j.omega.2021.102392. Other details (like the computational time, etc) are reported in the article itself.
