Description

This research constituted a series of studies seeking to uncover the spectrum of effects on host growth during dual inoculation of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi and a root-associated fungus – Penicillium sp. EU0013 – which confers disease tolerance. Our findings showed that infection stress from these two groups of beneficial microbes could occur during dual inoculation leading to reduced growth, wilting of leaves and even mortality of the host. This is a rare report on fungus-fungus interaction in the literature on bio-inoculation, biofertilization, and plant-microbe interaction.
