Description

In this study, we investigated the role of p300 in mediating a novel protein lysine acylation, lysine 2-hydroxyisobutyration (Khib), as well as its functional impact on cellular glucose metabolism. Using the immuno-blotting method, we show that p300 functions as a lysine 2-hyroxyisobutyryltransferase to modify both histones and glycolytic enzymes, activating gene transcription and promoting glycolysis.
