National Institute of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India conducted a study on the effectiveness of SERP Telangana's training on women's health knowledge attitude practice, and behavior. The data contains 299 responses from women in age 15-59 years. There are a total of 188 variables. Data has been anonymized in that names, and villages of respondents have been removed from the data.

Steps to reproduce

The study wanted systematically analyze the effect of Society for Elimination of Rural Poverty (Telangana) health training (usually done in monthly SHG meetings) on women's health knowledge attitude practices. Since Menstrual health behavior was a focus area, districts with high usage of the menstrual product on an average (NFHS 4) but high intra-district inequality of Menstrual health and heavy SERP presence were the criteria for the survey. Rangareddy in Telangana was chosen for the study. Intra-district units with high and low SERP presence were chosen for variation. The study was strictly restricted to the member universe of SERP. A purposive random sampling of 100 women in 15-59 age group who have attained menarche and not attained menopause and also attended SERP health training and 200 women who have attained menarche and not attained menopause, did not attend training, but were part of the overall SERP universe and were similar in sociodemographic characteristics were selected for the study. 1 sample had to be dropped from the 200 due to data quality issues. Through the DRDA Telangana Office, the women were identified. With the help of local SERP authorities, SHG-member women at the study sites were collected in small focus groups and the purpose of the study was conveyed to them. Willing participants in the study were included in filling out the structured questionnaires.
